BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP
TJW Contractor started in Herriman in 2014 when James Gutierrez decided the South Salt Lake Valley deserved a metal and woodwork contractor that actually gave a damn about quality. What started as one guy and a truck has grown into a full team with an in-house fabrication shop and hundreds of completed projects across Utah.
James grew up working with his hands. He learned welding and fabrication the hard way — on the job, making mistakes, and perfecting his craft over years of real work. When he started TJW, he brought that same mentality to every hire: people who take pride in their trade, show up on time, and do what they say they're going to do.
The business grew almost entirely through referrals. Clients called their neighbors. Neighbors called their realtors. Realtors called their commercial clients. That's still how most of TJW's work comes in — because when you do a job right, people talk.
Today, TJW handles everything from a single railing replacement on a front porch to full multi-story staircase systems in commercial buildings. The scope has grown. The standards haven't.

When we work in someone's home, we treat it with respect. Drop cloths down, shoes off when needed, work area cleaned up at the end of every day. It's your home — we don't forget that.

OUR JOURNEY
James Gutierrez started TJW Contractor with a pickup truck, a welder, and a commitment to doing metalwork the right way. First jobs were residential railings and staircase repair.
Outgrew the garage. Opened a dedicated fabrication shop that let the team take on larger custom projects and reduce lead times significantly.
Word spread to general contractors in the valley. TJW started taking on light commercial projects — multi-family housing, retail build-outs, and office spaces.
Invested in training and tooling to offer premium glass rail systems — frameless and semi-frameless — which quickly became one of the most requested services.
A decade in the South Salt Lake Valley. The same core team. The same standards. And a lot more experience earned on some of the most challenging residential and commercial projects in Utah.
